Pain Frames Pt. 2 (Butterstress)

After rolling away from a perfect feeble pop out, Tewie decided to try and take one to the end. Seconds later, our buddy was out with a fractured tailbone.

You know its bad when the person politely asks you to stop filming. We shall continue shredding in his name.

Sincerely,

Healthy Hatred

I've comprised a list of things that, personally, make me all angry like.

1. That genre of music...
that is making skateboarders look like a group of H&M enthusiasts.  "It's the soundtrack to my life though." No, skateboarding is not nearly that emotional and does not sound like lonely vagina.

god i hate this.
2. Those pesky lil' posts about how you "got clips" today...
could you imagine if every skateboarder who "got clips" posted about how they "got clips"? You're certainly not the only one who skates and you're certainly not the only one who gets clips. If you're 30, have arthritis in every joint, and seen some shit than you have every right to boast about your success. But if you're somebody who goes on missions to pump out internet footy then shut up until the footage is out. Weirdos.

3. Camera wars...
these actually get pretty funny because they are all so stupid. Of course the guy who just spent 3 G's for his HD camera is going to disagree with your "VX's are better" remark. All cameras are awesome. Settled.

4. One trick edits...
If monkeys could post videos this is probably as far as they'd get. So why you act like monkey??? What a cool way to help me kill 20 seconds and not remember how.

5. Film Burns...
these things have been crazy stupid for a while now. You're not enhancing the style of your editing you're only blending it in even more with those half a billion crazy boring edits. Whoever first used it with digitally shot footage could possibly be a creative genius, but all the same that person should be strangled with a roll of film. That'll teach 'em.

That's it for now... maybe I'll feel hateful again later.

Sincerely,
Luis Arnold

Vallejo's Phelper

We've been pretty busy having fun everyday filming for Buttersketch 2.0 but all that aside, I thought it was about time to include some words on Randy Phelps and his skateshop.

Randy was the by far the sickest shop owner a kid from Vallejo could ask for. He treated everyone equally. It didn't matter if you were outfitted in the most expensive fashionable "cool guy exclusive" attire, you were treated just the same as the kid in the torn pants and outdated Globes. Yeah, those ones. And as if that wouldn't humble them out enough, Randy's contagiously genuine laugh would unbeard the most bearded unfriendly looking skateboarder... Yeah, those ones.

 What's even better,
Randy never tried to manipulate kids into buying his product. He would much sooner see what he could give to kids for cheap or free rather than hustling in their lunch money. And being as both shop locations were in not so decent areas of town, Randy dealt with an abundance of broke-ass, yes in fact dirty ghetto kids. But Randy didn't mind because he grew up as one himself.
His childhood stories would make your favorite rapper "from the hood" cry next to mommy. From stabbings in self defense and on the spot lessons in fighting, down to an untimely violent death of his father. He's been there. Furthermore, he's been taking care of himself since he was sixteen. Literally, out of the house paying rent at sixteen.

 And even better...
While most shops build distantly dry teams, Randy got busy on creating a family. By Randy's standards being in the family meant being able to talk about your biggest fears and downfalls, while receiving the best advice a friendship could buy. Yes, we got free shit and lots of it, but that was way at the bottom of the perk list.

So when it came down to the shop closing,
as one could imagine, it came as a shinner. One that broke skin and bone. The shop wasn't bringing in the cheddar and Randy wanted to his raise his family as far away from the war zone. But as most people with terribly meaningless input would say, "Everything happens for a reason." They would then casually add, "Where ever he is he's probably happy now." But they'd actually be right... jerks.

Randy is happily off in Oregon with his "wild-child" son and beautiful wife. I personally have not seen or talked to him in almost two years. But I'm going to take a wild guess and say he hasn't really changed...

Randy you and your shop revitalized the skateboard culture in Vallejo.
Thanks for everything man!
Sincerely,

A Bunch of BS

We could feed you a million excuses as to why we haven't posted in over a month but it'd all sound like a bunch of BS. Literally. Get it?

Sure, there was a lot of time wasted between then and now but judging by how much golden footage has stacked up in the past three weeks, we've been making up for it. Hopefully we can keep this big stinkin' pile of BS steaming while keeping you updated with blog posts. That's what we're here for right?

Ryan stoked.

Taylor demonstrating the buttery-er side of things.

Our good pal Johnny.

Distressed Man with Cannon "Bombarges" Vallejo

Though Chris Young does not seem like a dangerous man, he is responsible for leaving the city of Vallejo in ruins. Friday marked Chris' 20th birthday, but despite plenty of birthday wishes via "loving" friends on Facebook, Chris Young was not satisfied. In a matter of 2 hours the young crazy Young, shot off 20 heat infused cannons in several directions of Vallejo neighborhoods. Though no witnesses have come forth yet, Matt Tuite, an upset residence of downtown Vallejo, complains, "They just remodeled my neighborhood and then some bastard just bombarges it with a cannon. Sick." He then went on to groan, cuss, and make several other textbook Tewie noises...

Alright, alright here's what really happened...

Little Kid Good

By government record his name is Tyler Gaul, but to Vallejo locals he's recognized as the Blonde Bomber. Pajama outfitted, and all too clever, this product of Vallejo public schooling fit right in our crew of opposites that was forming six years ago. A strangers first encounter with Bomber would probably read like this, "Met this funny looking white kid today. He was talkative and comfortable, as if he knew me for years. It made me uncomfortable."  But his intentions have always been to involve everybody no matter shape, color, or mental capacity. And as far as his own mental capacity goes, he'll forever get a kick out of outsmarting and out-witting people. He could probably talk Danny Way into retirement and make Lizard King feel like a dry salamander. Much of what he has said in the past has become a staple in our crew's (and even other crew's) vocabulary. However, you'd never find him following a trend, unless that trend was skating in a soccer jersey from yesterdays game and rocking shoes that could un-hip the hippest hipster.

Phat-Farm shoes and all. circa 2006.

and year later. 2007.

Soccer jersey phaze.

It was an inside joke years ago that Bomber would always remain "little kid good" but at his peek in skating, he was blowing minds with his manny variations and his bag of flat ground. Practicing a trick before filming was not his cup of Heem; on most occasions, he would learn a trick on the spot. The best example would be the manual frontside flip he pulled in his Maybe Later part. To this day he claims "I never did that trick before, and probably won't ever again."

Bomb Threats claim to fame. 2010.

For anybody who has had the pleasure of knowing Blonde Bomber, they'd tell you that he hasn't really changed a bit. Sure, more recently he hasn't been around the crew as much but his personality remains as calm and confident as his pajamas and his skating remains as little kid good as ever, of course.

Sincerely,
Vallejo Skateboarding
